Ecotourism is the focus for New Pender County Officials
The Tourism Development Authority of Pender County, North Carolina, has appointed a new tourism director and she has business - specifically agribusiness - on her mind.
Monique "Mo" Baker says her background in sales and marketing has prepared her to promote the region's natural beauty to the outside world, according to StarNewsOnline.com.
"This is the fifth largest county in the state, so my biggest challenge is trying to represent such a large area because it's so diverse, but I'm working on that," she said, quoted by the news source.
In keeping with today's trends the new director will focus on eco-friendly outdoor activities, hoping to attract visitors to the popular N.C. Blueberry Festival in Burgaw as well as its Bannerman Vineyard, which offers wine tastings and school tours.
Americans' growing awareness of the dangers to the environment and the importance of healthy and balanced living is sure to boost the ecotourism sector in years to come, creating employment opportunities for those with the right skills.
According to Los Angeles Times, tourism has surpassed international trade as LA County's top industry in a new ranking that reflects its growing impact on job creation in Southern California.
