Updated: Friday, September 18th, 2009

Accu-Weld, a manufacturer of enegry-efficient replacement windows and doors located in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, will open its doors to a town hall-style forum to raise environmental awareness in manufacturing and to promote ways to build the economy using eco-friendly solutions.

Attendees include Pennsylvania Governor Edward Rendell, Delaware Governor Jack Markell, Secretary of Energy Steven Chu, White House Senior Counselor for Manufacturing Policy Ron Bloom and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy Amanda Dory.

"This event is an opportunity to showcase how Pennsylvania and the nation can help promote manufacturing, build a green economy with green-collar jobs and encourage energy conservation," said Governor Rendell.

Sam Jadallah, Accu-Weld chairman, added that his company is an example of how eco-friendly businesses can benefit from the stimulus act while boosting the economy. Many of Accu-Weld's customers used the company's products to qualify for the act's tax credit which fostered new business and "saved jobs in [the company's] working town."

Associates and bachelors programs exist for those wishing to enter a career in environmental science. The demand for specialists in this field is expected to grow by 25 percent over the next seven years.
