National Guard program gives young adults green experience
The National Guard is offering young people the opportunity to prepare for a business career by exploring and participating in its green initiatives firsthand.
Documentarians between the ages of 17-22 can apply to the NG DOCS program, which allows young people to explore and track the National Guard's environmentally driven programs while gaining experience working on a documentary.
Such nature-friendly efforts include saving wildlife in Minnesota, creating man-made reefs in South Carolina, sustainability plans in Texas and the development of a solar array in Nevada.
Program participants will observe these initiatives on location and work with members of the National Guard and experts to create documentaries examining and tracking the effectiveness of each program.
"We want to give the next generation, who will be affected by the efforts we have put into action, a chance to examine and explore our tactics to preserve America for them and more generations to come," said Lieutenant Colonel Ronald Walls.
Such experience may help students succeed in associates and bachelors programs in environmental science.
