New partnership to award scholarships to fund bachelors programs, benefit e
The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and ServiceMaster have announced a collaboration to provide scholarships and business career opportunities.
The non-profit organization and cleaning service will launch two new programs to benefit women and minorities wishing to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors or careers in environmental science.
The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation will help ServiceMaster select 24 beneficiaries of its Shane Battier Minority Franchise Scholarship program, which has already awarded financial assistance for licensing and start-up costs to help 10 women and minorities open their own franchises.
In return, the company will help the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation fund its ServiceMaster Environmental Studies Scholarship program, which will award two African American college seniors $10,000 to put toward tuition for a degree program in environmental studies or a similar field.
Programs initiated by this partnership stem from a "mutual commitment to educat[e] and [empower] the next generation of leaders" and "reduce disparities in education and economic development," said Else L. Scott, CEO and president of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation.
This and many other scholarship and funding options are available for students in associate bachelor and master's degrees in sustainable management, environmental science and other environmentally minded programs. The demand for specialists in these fields is expected to grow by 25 percent over the next seven years.
