Right energy and climate policies will create American jobs, alliance says

Updated: Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

It appears the U.S. government is not the only entity promoting green business careers, as the Alliance for Climate Protection (ACP) has released a television ad highlighting the impact of comprehensive clean energy policies for jobs creation.

The ad features a dad who says he wants a well-paying job, and explains that clean energy also means lower gas prices and better environment for the kids.

"We know transitioning to clean energy is an economic necessity," says ACP President and CEO Maggie L. Fox.

"Families need savings on their energy bills, workers need good jobs with good wages that clean energy can deliver and our manufacturing sector must stay competitive in the industries of the future," she adds.

The campaign echoes the arguments made by environmental scientists for many years, and the government appears to finally understand the urgency of investing in renewable energy sources.

In fact, the stimulus package passed last February contains billions of dollars for that purpose, and projects are springing up around the country.

With employment growth in the field expected to average 25 percent over the next seven years, masters and doctoral programs in environmental science may open doors to exciting and rewarding green careers of the future.
