Sustainable management service provider named to list of fastest-growing co
The San Francisco Business Times has released its annual Top 100 Fastest Growing Private Companies in the Bay Area list, which included a promoter of green architecture and building.
Sustainable Spaces, a company that provides green energy remodeling solutions for homeowners, earned the 14th spot on the magazine's list.
The businesses were ranked based on the significance of their increase in revenue over the past three years. Sustainable Spaces's profits grew by 284 percent over the past year, which contributed to its rise from the 16th spot on 2008's list.
Founded in 2004, the company uses building and construction science to improve energy and health efficiency in homes. The California-based company is the first in the state to receive accreditation from the Building Performance Institute.
Matt Golden, founder and president of Sustainable Spaces, attributed his company's growth to nationwide homeowners' "willingness to assess and make changes for the better with [their] homes."
The growth of companies that specialize in green home improvements could provide job opportunities for architects who have completed associates, bachelors or masters programs in sustainable management, green power generation or green architecture and building.
The demand for such professionals, whose median earnings in May 2006 were $64,150, is expected to grow by 18 percent over the next seven years.
