Duke Energy to partner with ENN Group to enter clean energy technology agre
Duke Energy and the Chinese ENN Group announced a partnership to advance efforts to develop low-carbon and clean energy technology at the Clinton Global Initiative annual meeting today.
The two companies will collaborate to embark on such initiatives as commercial solar projects and joint technology development in coal-based clean energy, biofuels, natural gas, smart grids, energy efficiency and the use of carbon-capturing algae.
Senior executives from Duke Energy and the ENN Group signed a memorandum of understanding to finalize the partnership. To initiate their efforts, the companies will hold a series of meetings to share knowledge, view technical demonstrations and create best practice models.
The memorandum also addresses plans to explore mutual commercial development of utility-scale solar photovoltaic projects in the U.S.
Wang Ysuo, chairman of the ENN Group, said the partnership represents a mutual drive to "produce energy that pollutes less, conserves more and protects the environment."
Such large-scale projects are one reason why the need for environmental scientists who have completed bachelors or masters programs is expected to grow by 25 percent over the next seven years.
