A new website has been launched to link consumers seeking energy-efficient programs and the power companies that provide them.
ZiptoGreen.com allows power companies to provide links and information on their energy saving initiatives free of charge. By entering their ZIP code on the site, consumers can find programs that are available in their area.
The site also provides real-time statistics on the impact conservation efforts are having on energy usage as well as information on incentives from utilities and local governments.
Power companies that begin working with the site now can become charter members of the service and potentially lower their participation fees later.
The website was created to "[give] residential consumers easy access to the wealth of energy efficiency solutions available right now" and offer them "help reducing their monthly costs," said Julia Glenn Carter, CEO and founder of ZiptoGreen.
Associates, bachelors or masters programs in sustainable management as well as renewable or green power generation may help individuals begin careers as power plant operators, distributors and dispatchers. Job prospects for these professionals, whose median annual earnings were $55,000 in May 2006, are expected to be very good over the next ten years, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
