Nordic Windpower recognized as green innovator for wind power

Updated: Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

Nordic Windpower is being recognized as an ecologically friendly leader by both domestic and international businesses.

The company, which produces industrial-sized wind turbines, has been awarded the GoingGreen Top 100 award for the third consecutive year as well as the Global Cleantech 100 award.

The GoingGreen Top 100 award is presented by AlwaysOn, a publisher of web-based media concerning technology innovation. Winners of the award are chosen based on five criteria: commercialization, innovation, market potential, media buzz and value.

The Guardian Group compiled its Global Cleantech 100 list for the first time this year to “[shine] a spotlight on which companies and which technology areas the global innovation community is most excited about from a commercial standpoint,” said Tony Perkins, founder and CEO if AlwaysOn.

Thomas Carbone, CEO of Nordic Windpower, said this recognition is a reflection of “the increasing global adoption” of its energy-efficient products.

Increased use of green products is expected to lead to a higher demand for experts in environmental science, averaging 25 percent over the next seven years. Associates and bachelors programs exist for those wishing to pursue a career in this field.
