Pennsylvania Tax Credits available for Renewable Energy Projects

Updated: Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell has announced new tax credit to stimulate the state's efforts to develop sources of alternative and renewable energy and lower energy costs.

The Alternative Energy Production Tax Credit Program provides a credit of 15 percent of the net cost of alternative energy production projects incurred between July 9 and December 31, 2008. Eligible projects include solar, wind, geothermal, biologically derived methane gas, fuel cells, biomass and coal methane. Interested consumers may apply for the tax credit by September 15.

"Pennsylvania has established itself as a leader in developing and deploying clean renewable energy sources," says the governor.

"This tax credit gives us another tool that we can use to continue that trend," he adds.

This and other tax incentives and government spending across the country ensure that green power generation and renewable energy sectors will grow dynamically in the years to come, creating millions of jobs and opportunities for business careers.

Those who are interested in entering the field can choose a variety of accredited MBAs and masters programs in environmental sciences.

Government estimates suggests demand for environmental scientists and specialists will grow briskly at an average of 25 percent for the next seven years. The top 10 percent can expect to earn more than $94,670 a year.
