Pennsylvania encourages renewable energy manufacturers to apply for federal

Updated: Friday, August 28th, 2009

After offering tax breaks to individuals who make green home improvements, Pennsylvania authorities are now encouraging clean energy manufacturers to take advantage of federal credits and in the process stem climate change and boost business career opportunities.

The state's Department of Environmental Protection secretary John Hanger has reminded local manufacturers that the government plans to award $2.3 billion in Recovery Act funds in the form of tax credits to businesses that produce equipment for certain clean energy products, including wind, solar, geothermal, fuel cell and energy conservation technologies.

"As more companies and individuals seek to become more energy efficient, there is a greater demand for energy-related products," says Hanger.

"This tax credit not only stimulates the economy, but will also support the continued growth of clean energy industry [in our quest toward] energy independence," he adds.

This type of promotion is expected to help green power generation and renewable energy sectors grow fast in the coming decades and create millions of jobs and opportunities for business careers.

Accredited green MBA programs are a good way to acquire the skills that will be needed to manage the eco-friendly enterprises of the new economy. Another option is to pursue a bachelors or masters program in environmental sciences, as demand for specialists in that field is projected to grow by 25 percent for the next seven years.
