Renewable Energy sector will create jobs according to White House Meeting

Updated: Thursday, July 9th, 2009

President Obama has held a roundtable discussion with the CEOs of major energy companies on how the key provisions of the stimulus package will impact job creation in the U.S.

The participants focused on the provisions for investment in renewable energy as well as on climate change legislation.

During the meeting, Obama praised the assembled renewable energy leaders by saying they represented the nation's most innovative companies, and noting that they were able to save small and large businesses up to 30 percent on their energy usage.

"As our economy adapts to the challenges of a new century, new ways of producing, saving and distributing energy offer a unique opportunity to create millions of jobs for the American people," the president stated.

The positive employment effects from the transforming economy were confirmed by numerous leaders including Standard Renewable Energy CEO John Berger who said, "The industry is moving in the right direction."

In the face of such optimism from industry insiders, those who would like to boost their skills and enhance their earning potential may consider enrolling in business schools or pursuing bachelors or masters programs that will prepare them for careers in green agriculture, architecture, chemistry and many other fields.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates the demand for environmental scientists and specialists will grow at a dynamic average of 25 percent for the next seven years.
