Carnegie Council to hold sustainable management events

Updated: Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Those planning to enroll in a bachelors or masters program in environmental studies in New York may be interested in two upcoming events designed to draw attention to climate change and sustainability.

The Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs, a non-profit which has spent decades advocating measures against global warming, will host a discussion on September 18 titled Sustainable Branding: A U.S.-Japan Corporate Dialogue, featuring Michael Mendenhall of Hewlett-Packard as keynote speaker.

This will be followed on September 30 by Next Generation on Sustainability, which will include a screening of the new climate change film Shattered Sky and a debate on New York City green business and policy.

"It's time to work together across borders to find sustainable ways of living, and to confront the dilemmas of international fairness and justice that climate change is creating," the organization says.

Given the growing interest in environmental protection and billions of dollars pledged for green technologies by the Obama administration, business career prospects in the environmental sector have never been better.

Interested individuals have a range of educational options - from bachelors, masters and doctoral programs - in environmental science, environmental law and sustainable management, and they may be well rewarded for their efforts as official statistics expect demand for environmental specialists to grow by 25 percent per year, with top salaries exceeding $94,670.
